Interfaith Thanksgiving
As a member of The Grand Valley Interfaith Network (GVIN), Grand Valley Peace and Justice is glad to participate in the organization's annual honoring of the diverse faith beliefs in our community known as The Interfaith Thanksgiving Service. Each year, practitioners of a variety of faiths share expressions of gratitude in a service to which all are welcome. An offering is held that evening to benefit a non profit organization in our community, as well. The members of GVIN take turns hosting the Interfaith Thanksgiving Service. At past events, blessings have been shared by Christians, Jews, Native Americans, Buddhists, Sikhs, Muslims and New Thought Practitioners.
Thank you for attending our peaceful expression of gratitude.
On Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 7:00pm, those in attendance gave over $1,000.00 to the collection supporting The House, a youth shelter being built in our community to address the needs of homeless and unaccompanied teens. Those attending also brought canned goods to support the many meals being served at HomewardBound of The Grand Valley. This year the service was hosted at The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of The Grand Valley located at 1022 Grand Avenue. Next year, American Lutheran Church, another congregation member of GVIN, will host the service.
