Dear _________________,
I understand that recently several Councilmembers went to great efforts to better understand the plight of the homeless in Grand Junction. I also understand “the homeless issue” has become a frequent conversation piece at Council workshops and meetings. I applaud your efforts to embrace this problem head on. I also commend you for working with local service providers and organizations toward creating viable solutions that help these individuals move in the direction of self-sufficiency.
I recognize Council Members feel a great amount of pressure when moving in a positive direction concerning homelessness. It seems that whenever “the homeless issue” gets mentioned by the media, a small but fervent group of people begin speaking out against our homeless citizens. They passionately spread their message of hate through blogs, letters to editors and in letters to you. Please hear my message now. I support you in doing the right thing for the long term benefit of this community and the homeless persons who live here too.
Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers as you deal with these difficult issues.
With great Respect and Admiration,
Your Name______
